EMC Corporation unveiled a number of new backup offerings that help ease the burden that data centers are facing in dealing with the ever expanding digital universe. These new solutions, introduced to thousands of attendees at EMC® World, leverage the latest technologies including data de-duplication, disk drive spin down and low-power disk drives, and continue to help dramatically lower the cost of disk-based backup versus tape.

Technology Consumption by Indian industry alarmingly low 

While large units not using IT were found to have a -10.4 percent CAGR of operating profit, IT-using large businesses had a 3.1 percent CAGR, on average. In a measure of small businesses, non-IT using factories had a -4.5 percent CAGR, while IT using small units had a 1.2 percent increase in operating profit. Smaller IT using units show a greater positive business impact of IT use than large enterprises in terms of productivity. The CAGR is 3.5 percent for IT using small units, whereas large units using IT have a CAGR of -5.9 percent, each being more than that for non-IT using small and large units.

SUN and Wind River Partnered 

Sun Microsystems, Inc. and Wind River Systems, Inc. announced that Wind River will port its Carrier Grade Linux (CGL) and Workbench development suite to Sun's UltraSPARC T2 chip multithreading (CMT) processor. Wind River Platform for Network Equipment, Linux Edition, will be the first carrier grade Linux for Sun's CMT processors. With this announcement, Sun and Wind River will be providing the networking industry with a fully integrated, optimized and tested solution of the industry’s leading multicore processing hardware and CGL, enabling companies to quickly develop and deploy next generation enabled networking applications.
